A Toast to the Hummer:
Historic Drink has Yacht Club Roots, Ties to Bell's Beer Bayview Mackinac Race

The Bayview bar has long been serving delicious cocktails to its members and guests from around the world. It is not uncommon to find suits and sailors enjoying a drink, engaged in a lively discussion of a race won long ago or of how some new rating system will ruin the Corinthian sport of sailboat racing.

As the folklore goes, parts of the bar are from the original bar that once sat in the elevated section of the restaurant now referred to as the Blue Room. The mahogany wood is stained 'Chris Craft red', and bears the scars of countless games of Indian Dice.

Jerome Adams is as much an institution as the Bayview Bar itself. The inventor of the legendary Hummer, Jerome has a smile that can light up a room. He was the type of bartender who became an extra family member over generations! When asked how he came up with the name of his signature drink, Adams replied that the concoction of Bacardi Rum, Kahlua and Ice Cream "will make you hum".  Stop by the club and raise a hummer to Adam's tonight.
