The competition for the coveted Matthew R. Purcell Trophy has grown into one of the premiere events of the summer; it is as much fun on the water as off, and a true celebration of our club! The event is capped at 30 teams and spots are filling up quickly with a great mixture of young and old, and big-boat and small-boat sailors alike; if you have never been a part of the festivities now is the time to get involved... mark it on your calendar!

  • A one-day event on Saturday, October 7, 2017….a full day of racing with music & beer on the front lawn, followed by a great party.
  • Fleet-racing in u20’s right in front of the club (main & jib only)
  • Open to ANY SAILOR (not just BYC members), skippers must be either a college graduate, or at least 25 years old.
  • Teams of 2-4 people (including skipper); crew can rotate between races for any reason.
  • No weight restrictions.

This is the perfect opportunity to race with your friends, family, significant other, or that annoying person at the office who is always bugging you to take them sailing! Short, collegiate style courses right in front of the club keeps the racing tight and the spectating exciting. Nothing beats a day on the water racing against your friends; and, if you can’t sail, then plan on coming down for happy hour with some friends to watch the finals, it’s a great way to showcase our sport and our club!

For more information, or to register your team please email Nathan Hollerbach before all the spots fill up (nathanhollerbach@gmail.com) … and if you’re on the fence about sailing the event, just ask someone at the bar for their advice, I’m sure they would be happy to set you straight.
